Women in Comic Book Shops, Still Rare As Unicorns?

Is this all true? Are women turned off by comic book shops? Are shops dirty dark vaults that don’t care about women except when they’ve got anti-gravity boobs and plastered on a poster? Where’s the data to support this perception of women and comic book shops?
The Variant Customer Project is a research project I’m creating with the help of Cynthia Flores, aka @CyndawgFlores on Twitter, with the goal of finding out the truth behind women’s perceptions and comic book stores perceptions. We want to answer questions like these:
